Investing into Energy-Efficiency Projects: Why and How?

November 6, 2014 in Brussels
09.30-15.30

Organized by EBC Annex 61: Development of Business Models and Technical Concepts for Deep Energy Retrofits

Higher energy efficiency in the built environment is key to reach Europe’s goals for energy security, climate change and economic growth. Indeed, buildings provide the second largest untapped and cost-effective potential for energy savings after the energy sector itself (1).

However, the majority of profit-led energy service providers, private banks or investment funds have not identified energy efficiency in housing as an attractive business model. In order to create a change of perception and stimulate private investor’s appetite, already existing success stories need significantly better promotion. How do utility bill savings translate to attractive projects? What needs to be done in the next decade to meet the European Union targets for energy savings?
This Investors Day will address these questions, taking into consideration policy guidance, experiences from current energy savings projects and analyses of risks related to energy-savings companies (ESCO) as well as other business models.

The event will:

– Provide a deeper understanding of the potential that lies in the deep retrofit market;
– Present ways to mitigate the risks identified; and
– Allow participants to meet key players interested in broadening the market of deep energy retrofit.

The Investors Day, to be held one day after the Renovate Europe Day event (REDay2014), will provide a line-up of expert speakers, high level decision-makers and an enhanced agenda addressing a wide range of topics related to financing energy saving measures. The detailed agenda will be sent early September.

Participation to this event is free of charge but seats are limited. You can already register and book your seat by sending an email to info@bpie.eu

Venue: Rue de la Science 14b – 1040 Brussels
